She is considered to be one of India’s greatest and most renowned singers! The beautiful and talented Shreya Ghoshal has arrived in the UK for her much anticipated tour. The 31 year old Bollywood playback singer was at The Montcalm Hotel in London for a special press conference to talk about her UK tour and her excitement to be performing again after two previous sell out tours. Organised by Rock on Music, Shreya will also be making her debut at the Royal Festival Hall in London, where she will be singing some of her most popular numbers.
Speaking at the press conference about the response to her UK tour, Shreya had this to say. “I’m extremely happy. I think that God has been very, very kind to me that I’ve had the love of all of you. I just continue to hope that I learn a lot and grow as an artist.”
Also responding to a question on which of her many songs she considers to be her favourite, Shreya said the following. “That’s not possible. I cannot answer something like this (laughs). Every year has been different for me. Every day is like a new chapter and I am learning something new. Picking only one song and choosing which one was the best experience for me is really tough. Devdas was really when it all happened for me. Your first memories are always your best memories so Devdas was the most enriching and unrealistic experience for me and I was so young then.”
Shreya was asked by BollySpice about how it felt to sing the hit song ‘Saans’ for legendary director Yash Chopra’s last ever feature film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. “I’ve had the wonderful experience of singing for him (Yash Chopra) in many films earlier. The association has been so great and it was very inspiring for me to meet Yashji in person. He’s always been so humble, like a normal person and very loving. He’s been really missed. I thankfully got to sing for his last venture in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. He’s always been comforting and a mentor to me.”
Speaking about what fans can expect from this year’s concerts, Shreya mentioned the following. “There will be all the songs that I have sung in the past year, whether it’s ‘Manwa Lage’ or ‘Mein Tenu Samjhawan.” All the songs which were not sung by me last year (laughs). And there’s always this section that I do where I do tribute songs. They will be songs which were not sung by me and which I consider to be my personal favourites, mostly being retro songs. I know I only get such opportunities which I have audiences as good as the UK audience, who are hard-core music lovers. The appreciation that I receive for it is always great and I have prepared something nice for this year too.”
