Salman Khan’s Eid release, Sikandar, is not a complete loser like 2024’s Kissi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. But Sikandar is way beyond expectation, with audiences expressing disappointment at the run-of-the-mill ghisa-pita content and, worse, Salman’s immobile performance.
“He seems to be performing from a distance. There seems to be a complete disconnect between him and the camera. Also, his bodily movements are sluggish. Audiences are not happy with their Bhai this Eid,” Kumar Abhishek, manager of Connplex Patna, expresses. “Shockingly, we are not getting housefull shows on the first day. Maybe the sales will improve on the Monday that is Eid. But it looks like even Bhai’s fans are not coming.”
While speaking on the fatalities that Salman starrers have suffered at the box-office, a filmmaker who has worked more than once with the star comments, “His coterie of chamchas and hangers-on won’t allow him to grow. In his mind, he is invincible. Nothing he does can go wrong in his head. He isn’t working with filmmakers who can bring out something new. His work reflects the mediocrity around him.”
Trade expert Amod Mehra adds, “It is extremely rare for a film to release on a Sunday, and then on the very next day it’s a public holiday, that to Eid. Despite this Sikandar’s opening is shockingly far below expectations.”
