Hot Bollywood actress Sonali Kulkarni has become as famous for her journalism as for her film roles in movies such as Dil Chahta Hai, Bride & Prejudice and more recently, Well Done Abba. Now she has bound together over 100 of her articles into a book, So Kul. “There was a huge demand,” she says, “People reacted to my articles. I have thousands of emails, to which I have yet to reply. Some people reacted very strongly.”
Very much a Marathi film specialist, Sonali currently plays a lead role in Ringa Ringa which also stars Ajinkya Deo, Bharat Jadhav, Ankush Chowdhary and Santosh Juwekar. Set against the backdrop of Goa, the movie charts the rise of a gangster politician in a movie that’s been described as a cross between Hitchcock, Tarentino and Leone – one not to be missed and Sonali looks simply mouth-watering.
The multi-talented Sonali, who must be the only Indian actress to have won the Best Actress Award at the Milan Film Festival for the movie Fuoco Si Di Mi, recently attended the annual gymkhana at her alma mater – the prestigious Fergusson College in Pune. The college was also the home of actresses Pooja Batra (Miss India 1993) and Smita Patil.
