It has been announced that Sonam Kapoor will be starring in the film about Neerja Bhanot. Ace photographer Atul Karbekar turns producer for the Neerja Bhanot biopic, which will be co-produced by Fox Star Studios and directed by Ram Madhwani.
Fox Star Studios already confirmed the news by posting the line-up of their upcoming films including the biopic, which is titled “Neerja”. The casting is still in process though the production house announced that both Sonam Kapoor and Shabana Azmi are finalized for the movie.
For those who do not know, late Neerjan Bhanot was a senior flight attendant for Pan Am, based in Mumbai, India. She was shot while shielding three children from a hail of bullets on the board of hijacked Pam Am Flight 73 on 5 September 1986 in Karachi, Pakistan. She saved 360 lives and at the age of mere 23, posthumously, became the youngest and first female recipient of India’s highest civilian award for bravery “Ashok Chakra” award.
Sonam Kapoor began work on the film today. Neerja is slated to release in 2016.
Also on her slate of films is Prem Ratan Dhan Payo With Salman Khan, which is also produced by Fox Star Studios.
