Shah Rukh and Vivek Vaswani had been friends for a long time, and it was Vaswani who housed Shah Rukh when he first arrived in Mumbai from Delhi. Yet, SRK decided to repay his favour by delaying the release of his old friend’s movie, because, as the grapevine goes, the story line of Dulha Mil Gaya was quite similar to Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Says a unit member from the sets of Dulha Mil Gaya, “The film is about (newcomer) Ishita Sharma, who’s dumped by Fardeen Khan because of her looks. Sushmita Sen steps in and gives Ishita a makeover (much like the role Vinay Pathak played in Rab Ne). SRK plays Sen’s love interest. Since both the films revolved around, roughly speaking, the transformation of an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan, well, SRK chose to save his own ass rather than his friend’s.”
The director and crew were left in the lurch with loads of spare time on their hands, thanks to the selfish act of King Khan. “Needless to say, a lot of money was wasted because of this delay.” added the source.
