The cream of Bollywood came together on Sunday for the annual BIG Star Entertainment Awards, which recognised some the most iconic performances and films to have emerged from Bollywood this year. Shah Rukh Khan was one of the main winners, who took home the Best Entertainer Award for the late Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. He also won the Best Romantic On-Screen Couple Award for the film, which he shared with his co-star Katrina Kaif. Commenting on being bestowed with these honours, Shah Rukh had this to say: “Jab Tak Hai Jaan will always be a special film for me. I will always be thankful to Yashji. I get really excited with awards. No matter how many I have got, they have the same effect on me, like they did when I was new in the industry. I almost become like a kid in the candy store.”
Other big winners of the night were Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, who both secured the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for their critically acclaimed performances in Barfi! Abhishek Bachchan also won the Best Actor Award (Comedy) for Bol Bachchan, which was the film that officially ended his lean phase. Abhishek posted the following on Twitter where he expressed his gratitude on being given this particular award. “Just won Best Actor- Comedy for Bol Bachchan at the Big Star entertainment awards!! Won because of the most awesome team that we had on the film. All the actors and technicians and ADs. I share this award with them.”
However, one of the huge winners of the night was Akshay Kumar, who managed to bag an impressive 5 awards at the event. These include the Most Entertaining Actor in an Action Thriller Role (Rowdy Rathore), Most Entertaining Social Film (Oh My God), Most Entertaining Action Film (Rowdy Rathore), Most Entertaining Comedy Film (Housefull 2) and the Complete Entertainer of the Year Award. Elated with the numerous awards which he won, Akshay had this to say in a statement. “It’s been a great year for me. My daughter was born this year; that makes it very special. Of course professionally too it worked out well. I’m happy.”
The BIG Star Entertainment Awards is just one of the many award ceremonies which will be happening during the next few months, where the best of Bollywood will be recognised in style!
