From her last hit Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai and dismal affairs Knock Out and No Problem, Kangna will be taking a dramatic change in character with Tanuja Trivedi urff Tanu, in Tanu weds Manu. The film is about a mismatched wedding that has her sharing screen space with R. Madhavan and Jimmy Shergill.
The actress, who hails from Asmita Theatre Group, was recommended by Tanu Weds Manu leading man, Madhavan for the role of Tanu and when speaking to the Hindustan Times says that she must thank the filmmakers for this unexpected chance.
She continues on and says that she actually had a friend much like Tanu during her theatre days. “She drank, smoked and even uttered Hindi gaalis with ease, pretty frequently. She was so Bindaas and impressive. I just had to think of her and I was ready to play Tanu” Ask Kangna if she too hides somewhere in the character Tanuja and she says “I feel I am Tanu in many ways. I too come from a small town like her, am rebellious and suffer a cultural conflict.”
Tanu Weds Manu hits theaters on February 25th!
