Kartik hails from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. He moved to Navi Mumbai where he pursued a degree in Engineering. It was then that he had his sights on acting and within little time, he was discovered online to be approached for his first film Pyar Ka Punchnama by the director, Luv Ranjan. About his performance in the film, Taran Adarsh has been quoted saying, “Kartik is a bit awkward initially, but his performance grows on you gradually. He’s incredible during the final moments of the film.”
Kartik Tiwari is the male lead of Subhash Ghai’s magnum opus musical thriller, Kaanchi releasing on 15th August 2013. It is the story of a an innocent girl from Uttarkhand whose father, an ex-army man, gets shot. This event turns her life upside down and after a certain point, she refuses to be the victim, stand up to fight her way out and emerges as a winner. Ismail Darbar & Salim Suleman have contributed to the tunes of the film.
