After winning audiences hearts and critical acclaim and standing ovations at numerous global film festivals, including a Gala Presentation premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and the 68th BFI London Film Festival, Superboys of Malegaon, which Certified Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, will be available to stream globally on Prime Video Thursday, April 24th.
Superboys of Malegaon, directed by Reema Kagti, features the brilliant cast of Adarsh Gourav, Shashank Arora, Vineet Singh Kumar, Anuj Singh Duhan, Muskkaan Jaferi, is an ode to Indian Cinema and the magic of films.
Superboys of Malegaon is based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from the town of Malegaon. The town’s residents look to Bollywood cinema for a much-needed escape from daily drudgery. Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands his ragtag group of friends to bring his vision to life, bringing a fresh lease of life into the town. But then egos clash, ideas differ, and the team fades to black. Life moves on, but then for one last film, one last hope, they come together again to make Superman of Malegaon. Brimming with comedy, adventure, drama, and colorful characters, Superboys of Malegaon is a testament to the magic created when imagination is matched with resourcefulness, loyalty, and love.
We absolutely loved this film, rating it 4.5 stars, saying, Superboys of Malegaon is a brilliant, poignant, yet uplifting take on filmmaking and friendship that will have you crying and cheering. It is an exceptionally scripted and performed piece of art.
