Bollywood action hero Vivek Oberoi fresh from his authoritative role in Mission Istanbul, has been learning to surf in Durban, South Africa, where he is filming his new movie Prince. He claims his new hobby is like a drug, “I can’t get enough of it. The waves are amazing. The water is a little cold for a Mumbai boy, but it’s worth it and fun.” Adding, “Apparently I’m a natural. So says the guy teaching me. The very first day I went out on a board, I was standing up.” He claims a very pretty local surfer girl was his inspiration.
Vivek says he’s fallen in love with South Africa and its people. He’s been eating in favourite local restaurant Nando’s but he’s missing food from home. Even so, he’s thinking he might buy a property there – and of course he’s having a custom-built surfing costume made with his initials and nickname Rockstar embroidered on the costume. “I earned the nickname in college. And it’s not because of any musical ability, but the energy I have to shoot all day and party all night. When I party, I party till the morning. I cannot go home without having breakfast and watching the sunrise,” he explained.
Vivek’s career path started turning back up after Omkara and Shootout at Lokhandwala and although takings have been disappointing, his performance in Mission Istanbul has been praised.
Not much in known about Vivek’s new film but his co-star will be British actress Aruna Shields. She will be making her Bollywood debut alongside Vivek in Prince.
