Coming up on April 22nd is the highly anticipated Dum Maaro Dum. The film boasts not only industry veterans like Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu, but also some exciting newcomers like Prateik Babbar in only his third role and Rana Dagubbati who is making his debut in Hindi films. While a newcomer to Bollywood, Rana Daggupati first appeared in Telegu films and made quite the impression there. Since this is his first film in Hindi there were concerns surrounding the South Indian actors diction, however, it seems he nailed it and that co-star Bipasha was very impressed.
About working with the newcomer, Bips exclaims, “Rana surprised us. He knew not only his lines, but also my lines and every other actor’s dialogues.” Perhaps this was due to the help he received from the two stars in the film. “Being a newcomer in Bollywood, I had initial jitters, but I must say my co-stars – Bipasha and Abhishek – really helped me to pull it off,” Rana tells the Times of India.
Between the Rana’s steamy scenes with Bips and the general debauchery of the Goan setting, Rana has chosen the right film to push the boundaries. “I couldn’t have played a role like Joki in Telugu movies. Hindi films open a new vista for an actor,” says the new star. Let’s see if his diction is enough to advance his career up north.
