Subhash K Jha catches up with Swara Bhaskar on her birthday and she shares how her life has changed, on turning another year older, and more.

How did you bring in your birthday?
With cake and flowers and hugs from my favourite people- Raabu, parents and Fahad.

Now that your daughter is a little older, does she know it is her Mumma’s birthday?
Haha. I don’t think so, but she loves ripping open the gifts and pulling petals out of flowers. Fahad is teaching her to say ‘Happy birthday’. She’s said ‘Happa’ so far! Who knows, she might get it right before the day ends.

The past two years saw many changes in your life; how do you look at your life as a wife and mother?
It feels like a blessing. Like the universe answered every prayer of mine. Of course, it’s a total change of mind, body, and soul. It’s been a year and a half and I’m still getting used to this ‘new me’.

Do you miss the limelight?
Not really. Twitter keeps me alive!

Has it been easy to reconcile the cultural differences between you and your husband?
Yes, I think so. We are both non-rigid people with shared values and most importantly, we are friends and believe in being kind to each other. Bathroom habits were harder to reconcile. (laughs)

Any recent film that you wished you were part of?
I haven’t seen any films recently. But I watched a series called ‘The Maid’, and as a new mom, it hit me hard. I’d love to play that kind of role.
