Tanushree Dutta is pleased with the response of her recent movie Rokkk and is optimistic that her career is now back on track. “Apartment is now ready for release and Rokkk has already seen good feedback coming my way,” she says, “Recently, I also had a Tamil release, Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai, which worked well at the box office. I was thankfully very busy right through 2009 – it really went fast for me. I am positive that the scenario will turn out to be the same or perhaps even better in the months to come.”
Tanushree certainly deserves her success. She has worked hard to change around the stereotypical assumptions that were made about her when she first joined the industry. “I was slotted in a certain bracket,” she explains, “I was told that people expected me to be a hot and sultry woman in each of my films. I can see that today, there is a different perception about me in Bollywood. Yes, it has taken some time but I am happy that I am reaching there.”
Tanushree is currently working with Neha Dhupia to help shortlist the finalists for the Femina Miss India 2010 contest. “I am honoured to be a part of national shortlist round,” she declares, “I just hope that as a judge I am fair, it’s a huge responsibility because winning the pageant 6years back in 2004 changed my life completely and I am hoping that now I should be an instrument in guiding more girls like me.”
