Teri Fariyad, the newest rendition of the well-known ghazal, Koi Fariyaad has been recreated for the upcoming Tum Bin 2 and has touched emotional chords. Producer Bhushan Kumar and director Anubhav Sinha have reunited for the follow up of their 2001 hit, Tum Bin.

The latest rendition not only features Jagjit Singh’s soulful voice from the original, but also has Rekha Bhardwaj’s vocals seamlessly blending in. Ankit Tiwari has composed this version, which has steadily been rising on the charts.

Music composer, Ankit Tiwari said, “When Anubhav asked me to recreate it, I was hesitant because it’s such a classic and the challenge was to maintain the originality of the piece and blend in newer melodies that would seamlessly bridge the gap between the two worlds.”

Teri Fariyad, penned by eminent Urdu poet Shakeel Azmi, features triplets instead of couplets.

Talking about the idea behind the song, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha said, “We had to dig up the archives to find Jagjitji’s recording and we took over six months to transfer that recording from a two inch magnetic tape to the digital form that is used today with global technology with the help of our sound engineer.”

Shot in the aesthetic landscape of Scotland, Tum Bin 2 reunites producer Kumar and writer-director Sinha after a gap of 15 years.

Tum Bin 2, featuring Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal and Aashim Gulati, will hit the cinema screens on November 18.
