The Indian Film Company-Studio 18 Reveal Cannes Plans

The Indian Film Company has announced its line-up for the Cannes Film Market, which kicks off in Cannes on Wednesday, 13th May.

Indian Films-Studio18’s slate includes its blockbusters, Jab We Met, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng and Golmaal Returns. The movie majors are also offering buyers Kidnap, Dil Kabaddi, 1971, Awarapan and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., among other titles, alongside tent poles like Ghajini, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Sarkar Raj, in respect of which Indian Films owns select television and online rights. Future Bollywood films on the slate include the Anil Kapoor-produced Shortkut….The Con Is On, the Abbas-Mustan produced Life Partner and Ashtavinayak’s Luck.

Its slate of eclectic international co-productions includes debutante Sooni Taraporevala’s critically acclaimed Little Zizou the sales rights of which are with American World Pictures, Los Angeles, and Dev Benegal’s Abhay Deol-starrer Road, Movie, the script of which was an official selection at Cinefondation 2006. One of the biggest sales companies in the world is said to be in active negotiation with Indian Films for the takeover of international rights of Benegal’s drama, his third after English August and Split Wide Open.

An exclusive trailer of Gurinder Chadha’s much talked about English-Punjabi comedy, It’s A Wonderful Afterlife, which is nearing completion and features Shabana Azmi, Jimi Mistri, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Sally Hawkins, Zoe Wanamaker, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Mark Addy, among others, will be shown to international mainstream buyers by the designated global sales company, HanWay Films. This tent pole feature has been pre-sold in nine countries already.

The Indian Film Company is also hosting an exclusive drinks and canapes evening for selected guests by the Riviera.
