The living legend, former Bharatiya Janata Party’s MP, nominated member of the Rajya Sabha and actress Hema Malini has recently expressed her views about politics and recently went on record to say, “I think the president should be from a non-political background. He should be a very highly-qualified person and only a very knowledgeable person should become the president.”
Having already acquired previous knowledge of the political industry, Malini has been an active member of the Bharatiya Jananta Party (or the ‘BJP’) with husband and legendary fellow actor, Dharmendra since February 2004. During her political career, the ‘Dream Girl’ has campaigned for actor-turned-politician, Vinod Khanna during the Lok Sabha Elections in Punjab, has rallied support for many elections and was also made General Secretary of the ‘BJP’.
About the high profile position as President, Malini further states, “It’s such a high position that to handle it, a non-political person should be preferred. He’ll understand everything and will not be (in favour) for any political party.”
The actress has recently been taking a sabbatical from acting, and has not been very active in films since the early 2000s, but has appeared in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Sadiyaan, Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap, Aarakshan and recent home production, Tell Me O Kkhuda.
Let’s hope that the original ‘Dream Girl’ makes a firm comeback to films, as we’re sure that you’re as eager for the Bollywood starlet to dazzle the big screen as we are!
