The crime thriller, Loot Kaand, has gripped audiences with its unpredictable twists, high-stakes robbery, and intense action sequences, keeping viewers at the edge of their seats. With a meticulously crafted heist plan at its core, the Amazon MX Player (Amazon’s free streaming service) series, blends suspense, deception, and thrilling confrontations, Loot Kasnd, a high-octane drama packed with deception, suspense, and unexpected twists. This six-episode series, directed by Ruchir Arun, is centered around a high-stakes heist gone wrong. Leading the charge is Sahil Mehta as Palash, a street-smart hustler whose sharp instincts and daring choices set off a chain reaction of chaos, where survival is the ultimate prize. This series also features a powerhouse ensemble cast, including Tanya Maniktala, Gyanendra Tripathi, Saad Bilgrami, Ronjini Chakraborty, Nitin Goel, and Amit Sarkar in pivotal roles.
Recalling how he came on board, Sahil Mehta shared, “I still remember getting a call from Prithvish, our executive producer, after many years. We had previously worked together at ScoopWhoop, where I was involved in comical web sketches, and he headed the content department. When he reached out to me for the first three episodes, I started reading, and I just couldn’t stop. The script had me eager to know what happened next. Drishyam Films has a reputation for creating exceptional content, and after meeting the team and the director, I felt an instant connection with the project.”
He also discussed the challenges of bringing his character to life, adding, “Playing Palash was an entirely new experience for me. Most of the characters I’ve portrayed so far have been from North India, but Palash hails from Purulia, a small town in West Bengal. The shift in dialect, body language, and attitude was something new and exciting for me – it pushed me as an actor, and that’s exactly what I look for in a role.”
Sharing insights about shooting some of the most intense action sequences, Sahil highlighted, “The action scenes were particularly thrilling to shoot. One of the key moments in the trailer shows Palash falling into a basement — I performed that stunt myself without a body double, which was nerve-wracking yet exhilarating. Another highlight was the chase sequence, where Tanya’s character and I are on a bike chasing a car. It was my first time riding a bike in a show, and though it was challenging, the experience was truly rewarding. The entire team – from the direction unit to the action crew – ensured I was comfortable and well prepared, making it an unforgettable journey.”
Loot Kaand is now streaming for free exclusively on Amazon MX Player, which is available through its mobile apps, Amazon’s shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Connected TVs.
