The trailer of Kiran Rao’s comedy-drama Laapataa Ladies has just dropped and it gives fans an eagerly awaited glimpse into an intriguing story that immediately makes you smile. Directed by noted filmmaker Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies is set to release on March 1st.
Set within the backdrop of rural India, Laapataa Ladies tells the tale of two young brides who get lost on a train and end up in very different circumstances, but here is a mystery, too. Do they find their way, and what happens in the way? We will find out!
In an earlier interview with Variety magazine, Rao said, “The idea of these two girls on an adventure, trying to find their way, trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives, how they can make the best of what’s been given to them, jumping off that train — it was very exciting to see what we could do with two young girls who come from very different head spaces, but ended up being changed by this swap.”

Well-wrapped with great acting of the lead cast, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Nitanshi Goel, and impeccable craft, from what we can see, the film guarantees to offer the audience a roller coaster ride of humorous moments in a very engaging and according to Rao a hopeful story.
A fun fact is that when the film screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), it received a standing ovation!
Presented by Jio Studios, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film has been made under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. Sneha Desai writes the screenplay & dialogue, while the additional dialogues have been jotted down by Divyanidhi Sharma. The film is all set for its release on 1st March 2024.
