The Kalaimamani Awards are offered by the Tamil Nadu government to people who have excelled in their chosen fields. Amongst the winners this year are popular actresses Asin, Meera Jasmine and Nayantara.
After enjoying tremendous success down South, Asin is now building a Bollywood career with Aamir Khan and Jiah Khan in Ghajini and Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan in London Dreams. She is probably one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood but is careful about the movies she chooses. She recently talked about her process for doing this: “I have no particular choice of role in a film, but in the order of preference, I first see the script, followed by the role, director, banner and then the co-star,” she explained.
Meera Jasmine has starred in a string of excellent movies all over the South, including most recently Calcutta News with Dilip and Indrajith; Innathe Chintavishayam with superstar Mohanlal and Innocent; and Minnaminnikkoottam with Anoop Chandran and Indrajith again.
Nayantara, who played Chitra in the Surya version of Ghajini, is currently on a high with a number of high-profile roles behind her, including Aegan with Ajith. She has suddenly become a big name in Telegu and Tamil movies. She is currently working on Stalin’s second film Aadhavan, starring opposite Surya once again. She will also soon be teaming up with Ravi Teja once again for a Tamil movie.
