Films travelling from language to language is not an uncommon thing. And one thing that stays common in the most subsequent remakes is the climax is known to all. Well, director Gauges Vasudev Menon intends on being a little different with his return to Bollywood film, Ekk Deewana Tha. The director, who has already seen success with the Tamil original and Telugu remake, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya and Ye Maya Chesave respectively, is going for a hattrick with the Hindi version, but intends to keep the audience guessing on the climax.
“With the Telugu version, I didn’t want to take a risk, so it has a happy ending. I was confident about the climax of the Tamil version. As for the Hindi version, it is something unexpected. I wanted to retain the surprise element” says the RHTDM director to Times of India. This isn’t the first time the climax of his film has been changed. His Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha, remade in Hindi as Force, has the same ending as we saw in Hindi, but the Telugu version of this film, Gharshana, starring South actor Venkatesh and Asin, had a different happier ending.
Ekk Deewana Tha stars Pratiek and newbie Amy Jackson and has music by A.R. Rahman
