1. Paapu Can’t Dance – Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
And the crown goes to… (drumroll)…’Paapu Can’t Dance’! Full marks to this nutty song and to its choreographer for an even nuttier song concept. Although clearly everyone can dance in the song, we are left wondering….where is Paapu? While we may never really find him, the steps to the dance were lovable and simple. Everyone picked up the Paapu Dance, and when the song plays at every desi party, you can’t help but sing and dance to this young hip number. Imran Khan and Genelia D’souza both danced to this chart topping number in great flair, so even if Paapu can’t dance, these two certainly can!
Since we can’t seem to help ourselves we again have to list a special mention for Slumdog Millionaire. In the film the song ‘Jai Ho’is a full on Bolly number that is brilliant!
While we are at it and adding extra songs in we have to give two thumbs up to Amisha Patel’s sexy ‘Lazy Lamhe’ from Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic! Garam!
So that is how the cookie crumbles folks! As we wind down the best of the best in 2008, we certainly hope we have bigger and better Bollywood naach-gaana in 2009. Until we meet again, Nach Baliye!
