1. 3 Idiots

Director – Rajkumar Hirani
Producer – Vidhu Vinod Chopra
Music – Shantanu Moitra
Release Date – 23 December 2009
Grossing – Rs 202,57,00,000

What can I say?

A film that crossed the Rs 1 billion mark within the first 10 days of release.

A film that set a box office record by grossing 339 crore worldwide.

Winning 6 Filmfare awards, 10 Star Screen awards and 16 IIfA Awards

It really speaks for itself.

And I don’t think I can add much to it. Especially not anything that hasn’t been already said. I attended the preview of this film and gave it 3.5/5 much to the outrage of certain people. My reasoning was simple. The film was brilliant, the performances second to none. The treatment Hirani gave the film was original; it’s just that the idea wasn’t. Though it touched on several social issues, I just felt they should have been explored a bit more.

With Tamil and Telegu remakes on the way – the 3i magic looks set to continue for a while. The top grosser of the decade (having broken/set every record possible), I give you 3 Idiots.

I think a round of applause is deserved for all featured on the list – The artists, the directors, the producers. It’s no mean feat being in a list for nine years (Gadar), or smashing records and making a space in the heart of the audience so instantly that you gain direct entry (Dabangg).

With that I bid you all adieu with a promise to return soon with more Bollywood News -on Bollyspice.com.
