Farah Khan’s second offering to the Bolly loving world was based on reincarnation. Set intially in 1977 Om Prakash Makhija(Shah Rukh Khan) falls for Shantipriya(Deepika Padukone).Then calamity strikes and Om dies. Returning to present day 2007, Om Prakash Makhija takes a rebirth and returns as Om kapoor (Shah Rukh khan). Thus begins the saga of Om Shanti Om.
Releasing alongside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Sanwaariya which launched Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor – Om Shanti Om was Farah Khan’s festive offering to the hindi film world. Tajpal Rathod reviewed for the BBC and said ‘both a homage to and parody of Bollywood, this cinematic feast delivered straight from the heart of the film industry will have you glued to your seats till the end.’
And glue you all it did. Om Shanti Om enters the chart at number 8.
