This 2006 Indian Bollywood action film directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra at an estimated budget of Rs 350 million was the second film in the Dhoom series starring Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra star as cops Jai Dixit and Ali. Attempting to capture Mr. A (Hrithik Roshan), a professional thief whose passion is to steal rare and valuable collectibles using high-technology gadgets the film also starred Bipasha Basu and Aishwariya Rai.
Shot primarily in India, Durban, and Rio de Janeiro, Dhoom 2 was the first major Hindi film to be shot in Brazil, a far cry from their normal locale of choice – Switzerland.
The film premiered on 24 November 2006 in India, where it received the widest release in Indian cinema history with over 1800 prints and was widely appreicated by the audience – Taran Adarsh commented ‘DHOOM 2 is a winner all the way’ and Rajeev Masand commented ‘it’s unabashedly entertaining and it’s two-and-a-half hours well spent but I want director Sanjay Gadhvi to promise he’ll spend more time working on the script if they decide to do Dhoom 3.’
Whether Dhoom 3 will go to floor this year or not remains to be seen – I can safely say though if it does it is being waited for.
Dhoom 2, the decades number 7.
