Every year we have pairs that set our screens on fire. This year was no different as we saw some really hot pairs. Some were pairs we have seen before, but not quite as good as they were this year. While others were brand new and after seeing them the first time, we want to see them together over and over again. Here are the five jodis we here at Bollyspice feel created the most electricity on the screen:
5. Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao
Shahid and Amrita have always made a cute pair since their first movie together, Ishq Vishk. After that they did some more movies together, but they did not create the same magic we saw in their first film together. That was until this year when they were paired together for Vivah. This movie showed the best chemistry they have ever shared. Even better for them, the movie proved to be the biggest hit they have had as a pair. Now that they are bankable together, producers will be lining up to sign them in more movies together. Surely a jodi to look out for in the future, especially because they are so young.
4. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai
They may be making most of their noise off the screen, but make for a pretty good on n screen jodi as well. Although they have been paired together in the past, it has never really worked out. This year they were in two movies together, one of which they were a jodi. Umrao Jaan showed that they have the chemistry to make a great pair even though the film failed at the box office. Dhoom 2 gave them a huge hit, but they were not paired opposite each other in the films. Lack of commercial success holds this jodi back from the top spot. With their impending marriage coming soon, they have many big projects lined up in which they are cast opposite each other. It is only a matter of time until they do become Jodi No. 1.
3. Shiney Ahuja and Kangana Ranaut
The only pair out of our top five that were a jodi in more than one movie this year, Shiney and Kangana were cast opposite each other in both Gangster and Woh Lamhe. These are Kangana’s first two films of her career and they are both with Shiney. It is a good thing that she has worked with Shiney twice so early in her career because they make one rocking pair. They are both early in their careers, but both gave amazing performances in both films that they were involved in together. Most of that can be attributed to the wonderful chemistry they share together on screen. Both their films went on to become relative successes as well. In the near future, they are coming up with the film Metro. But the way they look together on screen, it is pretty evident that they will be seen together many more times in the future.
2. Aamir Khan and Kajol
This was perhaps the most anticipated jodi of the year. It was Kajol’s first film in five years, and many expected her return to be with Shah Rukh Khan. But things took a twist and she was paired opposite Aamir in her comeback film. Many were against the pairing as they did not believe that the jodi would look together on screen. Well all those people changed their minds after Fanaa released as they realized Yash Raj knew what they were doing when they chose Aamir and Kajol as a pair. The chemistry Aamir and Kajol shared was absolutely flawless. It was evident that Kajol’s chemistry with Aamir was just as good, if not better, than her chemistry with Shah Rukh. As much as the junta loves the SRK-Kajol pairing, they are now requesting to see the pairing of Aamir and Kajol once again as their jodi is unforgettable in Fanaa. As a matter of fact, they were the number one jodi for quite some time, until there was some dhoom at the end of the year.
1. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai
As if there was any doubt this was the best jodi of the year 2006. Hrithik and Aishwarya is not only the best jodi of this year, but they might be one of the best jodis of all time. Granted they have only done one film together, but after watching them emit electricity on screen in Dhoom 2, producers will be lining up to sign them two together. They already have Jodha-Akbar coming up next year, which has the public waiting in a tizzy to watch tinsel town’s new numero uno jodi on screen yet again. Whether they were “checking each other out,” or playing a game of basketball, or sharing a steamy kiss, it was all done with perfection. It doesn’t hurt that they are easy on the eyes as well. They are also the best looking jodi apart from the best overall jodi. Dhoom 2 was the biggest hit of all time only because of their chemistry. Everyone knew they would look like a dream together on screen (except for Papa Roshan), but no one expected them to be so picture perfect and end up being one of the all time great couples. Few more projects together and we can make the argument for them being the greatest all time couple. Now if they keep doing at least one movie together every year, they will be a fixture at the top of this list every single one of those years.
There you have it, best and hottest jodis of the year 2006. There is no reason to believe these pairs won’t be in future lists if they keep on working together. They share special bonds together on screen that allow them to share such amazing screen space together. Here is hoping these pairs are all repeated by producers in their future projects. As for 2007, we shall look out for new jodis to captivate us, as well as, these pairs to recreate their magic.
