While the overall boxoffice collections of Housefull 5 so far are decent, the two alternative endings have the audience confused with most patrons opting for Housefull 5’s A ending.

Trade Guru Taran Adarsh admits the ‘A’ and ‘B’ ending have floundered. “Initially, the concept of having two different endings and releasing them on the same day sounded innovative. However, once Housefull 5 hit the screens, it ended up confusing a section of the audience — some weren’t sure whether to watch Housefull 5 A or Housefull 5 B. As a result, Housefull 5 A ended up attracting significantly more footfalls than Housefull 5 B.”

Taran Adarsh feels alternative endings are a bummer. “Personally, I feel producers should avoid releasing alternate endings simultaneously. It tends to create unnecessary confusion. That said, the good news is that the experiment hasn’t negatively impacted Housefull 5. The film is doing well at the box office, and if the current momentum continues, it should comfortably cross the ₹ 200 crore mark in the coming days.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan is even , “Not really I would say. Most of the ticket sales have gone to Housefull 5 A. Honestly, it might have been better if the makers had stuck to just one version — it would’ve saved the audience a lot of confusion. It could’ve been quite clever to offer one booking option but show two different versions, though the CBFC doesn’t allow two films under a single certificate. That’s still up for debate, really. More importantly, if the makers had focused a bit more on the content rather than relying on marketing gimmicks, the outcome could’ve been much stronger.”
