Sikandar has proven to be Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala’s worst nightmare come true: a non-starter during Eid.

Eid, for those who came in late, is traditionally considered Salman’s stronghold especially among his Muslim fans who have traditionally supported ‘Bhai’ in all his Eid endeavours. That they have chosen to stay away from Sikandar is cause for concern.

“They have nothing against Salman. But they sensed the film was a disaster from the trailer and opted not to show up. Sikandar is one of Salman Khan’s worst openers in recent times. The Eid audience has chosen not to invest in the film. It is a huge setback for Salman,” says Roshan Singh, a prominent film exhibitor from Bihar.

Adds Kishan Damani, a well-known film distributor from Bihar, “I feel lack of good content and a very flat storyline have done Sikandar in. Audiences have become way smarter and are able to sense the movie’s strengths from the trailer itself.”

In the meanwhile, the failure of Sikandar to get going has now placed the focus entirely on Sunny Deol’s actioner Jaat, which releases on April 10.

But what happens to the empty theatres until then?

Jaat is a full-on actioner, with the combats done in grand style, allowing Sunny to do a Gadar in a South production.
