2025 promises to be a turn-around year for Akshay Kumar. The lean mean arid streak seems to be inching towards a closure. It all begins with Sky Force the gritty film about the Indo-Pak conflict of 1965 with topnotch aerial acrobatics, which is expected to open on a high note this Friday.
Prolific filmmaker Priyadarshan who has directed Akshay Kumar in some of his best celluloid outings including Hera Pheri feels the actor’s second innings starts now. “I think Skyforce is looking like something the audience would pay to see Akshay Kumar in. He has always been perceived as a trueblue patriotic hero. I remember I was on the jury of the National award when he won the Best Actor award for Rustom and Airlift. I see the same quality of performance in Sky Force. I am working with him again after many years. The actor in Akshay is more active now than ever before.”
The pre-release reports of Jio Studios and Maddock Films’ Skyforce are “very encouraging” . Says Bihar’s top film exhibitor Roshan Singh, “The reason Akshay Kumar has not had a big success lately is the lack of interest in the content. This time in Sky Force the patriotic sentiments are very high.Akshay Kumar was last seen so smooth as a soldier in Airlift. Sky Force seems to take up the his image from the earlier film.”
