TZP, Jodhaa Akbar and A Wednesday Win V Shantaram Awards!

The winners for the V Shantaram awards have been announced and A Wednesday, Taare Zameen Par and Jodhaa Akbar took home most of the honours.

The biggest honour of the night, the Gold Award for Best Film, went to Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par. The film also was awarded the silver award for Best Director for Aamir Khan. Child artist Darsheel Safary was named the Best Actor of the year for his brilliant portrayal of a child with Dyslexia in the film. Also Amol Gupte was presented the Best Writer Award for the film.

A Wednesday was honoured with five awards including: The coveted Gold Award for Best Director for Neeraj Pandey and he also won the Best Debut Director Award. The film was given the Silver Award for Best Film. Jimmy Shergill was named Best Artiste in a Supporting Role for his work and the award for Best Editing went to Shree Narayan Singh.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was honoured for her work in Jodhaa Akbar as Best Actress and the award was picked up by her mother in law Jaya Bachchan who said, “Wonderful, carry on working as you have in Jodhaa Akbar.” The films director Ashutosh Gowariker received the Best Director Bronze Award. A R Rahman also won Best Music Director for his score for the film while the Best Cinematography Award went to Kiran Deohans.

Farhan Akhtar was named Best Debut for his outstanding performance in Rock On!! About winning the award he said, “I am really thankful for this one. You know for this one (the award) there is a very difficult, stiff competition with two very cute kids and with my wife from the film (Prachi Desai). I am very-very thankful and grateful.”

In other awards The Bronze Award for Best Film went to the Marathi film Tingya while the Best Sound award went to late H Sridhar for the Tamil film Dashavataram.
