More on Ugly

We have a brand new ‘behind-the-scenes’ video series for Ugly plus some exclusive stills and character sketches! ‘Ugly’ stars Ronit Roy, Tejasvini Kolhapure, Rahul Bhat, Vineet Singh, Girish Kulkarni, Siddhant Kapoor & Surveen Chawla. The movie has been produced by Phantom Films and Dar Motion Pictures Ltd. The film has created a furore at various International film festivals and is slated to release on December 26, 2014.

First up is the video titled ‘The Basis of Ugly, which features exclusive clips of director Anurag Kashyap and producer Vikramaditya Motwane sharing their experience while shooting for ‘Ugly’.

In this video, Anurag Kashyap speaks about his film and his motivation behind it. “This film comes from everybody wanting something & not doing anything” adds the talented director. Ugly is partly inspired by his relationship with his daughter, many scenes have been taken from real life situations that the director has come across over the years.

Producer Vikramaditya Motwane said, “I think Ugly is honestly for me- maybe because I’ve known him for so long… I think for me personally his best film since Black Friday.”

Ugly, a film which drives its inspiration from the darker aspects of life has been doing rounds of various film festivals since its international release. Having impressed audiences everywhere, the film will now release in India next week.

Synopsis
Bose, an Additional Commissioner of Police, is an extremely straightforward professional. However, these lines are a bit blurred in his relationship with his wife Shalini, who is clinically depressed and an alcoholic. Shalini was first married to Rahul, a struggling actor and also has a daughter with him, called Kali. Our story starts on a Saturday, which is the day Rahul is allowed to meet Kali as per court custody arrangements. Rahul leaves her in the car, as he goes to meet his friend…and Kali goes missing.

The story grapples back and forth in time to dig into their lives and what follows is an endless series of blame game and one up-manship. A dark psychological thriller on the surface, Ugly is an emotional drama within.
