The UK Premiere of I’m Not An Actor (Main Actor Nahin Hoon) at the Opening Night of the Bradford International Film Festival (BRADIFF) on Tuesday, 28 October at Pictureville Cinema was a huge success. Supported by the Bradford South Asian Festival (BSAF), the screening was followed by a Q&A hosted by festival Co-Director Aisha Khan (BSAF) with writer-director-producer Aditya Kripalani and producer Sweta Chhabria in-attendance, marking the launch of the festival’s 2025 edition.
The India–Germany co-production has been Written, Directed and Produced by Aditya Kripalani and stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Sacred Games) and Chitrangada Satarupa (Tikli and Laxmi Bomb).
Shot live across India and Germany over 28 days, the film is the first of its kind in Indian cinema, placing its two leads in a continuous video call across continents. The result is an intimate, day-long conversation that blurs the boundaries between performance and reality, teacher and student, Mumbai and Frankfurt.

BRADIFF Festival Co-Directors Jan Ruppe and Louisa Rose Mackleston commented: “We were delighted that so many people came out to the launch of Bradford International Film Festival to see I’m Not an Actor with a Q&A with director Aditya Kripalani and producer Sweta Chhabria. It was an honour to be hosting the UK Premiere of this ground-breaking film before it goes on release to the rest of the country. It was also wonderful to hear the comments of the audience after the film which showed that people from different parts of the community could relate to its themes.”

Reflecting on the premiere, Aditya Kripalani and Sweta Chhabria added: “It was a lovely, warm festival. Jan and Louisa have put together a cosy and welcoming launch. The audience seemed to really enjoy the film, asking a ton of questions and clearly touched by it. We hope, over time, they’re able to bring more of Bradford’s community into the festival and that it continues to grow larger each year.”
I’m Not An Actor (Main Actor Nahin Hoon), will have a UK wide release with Vue, Odeon and independent cinemas from 7 November.
