Urmila Matondkar‘s agenda seems very full and exciting nowadays! She has reinvented herself as TV personality after she’s done ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and now ‘Waar Parivaar’. The actress states that she did ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ due to her fixation for dancing. She laughs, “I wouldn’t have done it if it was about American country music. And I won’t deny that the money is fantastic too. But money has never been the deciding factor so far.” She claims that she refused to fake in reality shows, “You can’t fake emotions because sooner or later, you’ll get caught and lose your credibility. That was also the first thing I cleared before I took on the show.”
The actress has two projects in hands that include EMI (Easy Monthly Installments) and Karzzzz claiming she has been very selective about her work, “As time passes, one becomes even more selective… Some of the films I’d thumbed down turned out to be big hits. You learn. I’m like Alice in Wonderland, learning every day. I’ve always taken risks. It’s not the greatest feeling when some of them didn’t pay off,” she admits.
Speaking of EMI, she declares the serious issue of the film has caught her attention as well as that she hasn’t done a multi-starrer for a while. She claims that her philosophy is that her work should create the buzz and she does not believe in screaming on the rooftops about her makeovers.
She’s very excited about working with Himesh Reshammiya in Satish Kaushik’s Karzzzz, “Karz has been one of my favourite films and this one has superb music. The character is a strong woman, though many changes have been incorporated in the second half.” She discloses that she was hesitant about doing the film until Satish (Kaushik) and Bhushan Kumar persuaded her to do the role.
Both of her films are releasing this year. While Karzzzz has been set for 26th December, EMI is looking for a release date during September.
