It is with immense sadness to report that Varsha Bhosle, who is the daughter of singer Asha Bhosle has died at the age of 56. According to reports from the Indian media, Varsha commited suicide at her mother’s Peddar Road house in Mumbai. She had suffered from depression for many years and sadly chose to end her life by shooting herself in the head with a pistol. Varsha was apparently found by the family driver on Monday morning at around 10:30am. It is alleged that she previously tried to commit suicide on two separate occasions in 2008 and 2010. Varsha, who is the second child of Asha’s from her first marriage to Ganpatrao Bhosle was an occasional singer, as well as a writer for some magazines and websites, most notably for Rediff.com. Her mother was in Singapore at the time and has now returned to India after receiving the tragic news.
