Varun Dhawan has said that there is no competition between him and his Student of the Year co-star Sidharth Malhotra and in fact, both are very supportive towards each other whenever they have a new film releasing. Both Varun and Sidharth made their Bollywood debuts in Karan Johar’s fifth directorial venture and have since grown in popularity amongst fans and within the industry itself. Hence, this has led to many people amongst the media, as well as industry experts to draw comparisons between the two young actors. “Sidharth’s film releasing is special for me and mine is special for him,” said Varun in an interview with a top Indian news corporation. “He is always a brother. He always calls me be it Main Tera Hero or Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. I don’t think there is any competition, especially with me and Sid.”
Varun also spoke about his upcoming film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, also starring Alia Bhatt and with whom he also debuted with in Student of the Year. He talked about why he chose to sign up to the romantic comedy, which has been directed by Shashank Khaitan. “I am always looking for characters that are crazy and different because they stand out. To be named Humpty is very interesting in a love story. People are bored of watching normal love stories. I hope Humpty becomes the best love story of the year.”
Moreover, Varun mentioned what it was like working with Alia for the second time. “There is a marked difference in her. She has not changed as a person but she has improved as an actor. She is far better now and I really enjoyed working with her.”
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania releases in cinemas on 11 July!
