Much like Konkona Sen Sharma for Omkara, Vidya Balan needs to learn a new dialect for Vishal Bharadwaj’s next film. Produced by Vishal and directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Ishkiyaan, which also stars Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah, requires Vidya to speak in a UP dialect.

Vidya’s role is the film is somewhat of a con artist and has many shades to her character. She was concerned initially that she would not be able to get the dialogue correct. So to get the accent down perfectly for the film she has been studying with a tutor for about 2 weeks according to a source close to the project. “When Vidya was given the final draft of the script, she expressed her inability to be very fluent in mouthing the UP dialect which one saw in Vishal’s Omkara which was incidentally co-written by Ishkiyaan director Abhishek Chaubey along with Vishal. The trio then mutually agreed upon having a tutor for Vidya for 15 days to get her well versed with the language and speak in the right dialect. Vidya is a South Indian but she is picking up the language very fast. The film shoot begins from mid October.”
