Milan Luthria, director of the keenly awaited musical multi-starrer, The Dirty Picture, came up with an innovative way to clear Vidya Balan’s apprehension over her bold role in the film, based on the life of the south sensation, Silk Smitha.
Sources say that Milan made Vidya watch films like Chicago and Burlesque, which portray women with strong and overt body language. Vidya, who will be seen in a radically different avatar in the film, prepared intensively for two months for her role by attending workshops and reading with the actors. To ensure that everything went smoothly and to start the first day on an auspicious note, Vidya even organized a small puja on the set.
Meanwhile, Tusshar Kapoor, who plays one of her love interests in the film, was nervous on being introduced to Naseeruddin Shah on his first day of shoot. Tusshar and Naseer are working together for the first time.
Tusshar’s nervousness was broken by the arrival of Ratna Pathak (Naseer’s wife) with whom he shared a great working relationship on the sets of Golmaal Returns. Ratna lightened up the mood and helped in breaking the ice between Tusshar and Naseer. The two were then seen chatting away, with Naseer discussing the glorious films of his time.
