Vipul Shah is riding high on the success of Singh is Kinng. In a deal that has stunned Bollywood, the worldwide distribution rights in all forms of media for his next movie, London Dreams, have been sold to the India Film Company for 120 crore. This is the same company that bought the rights to Singh…. This is well above the 100 crore barrier that has never been passed before. It means that Vipul Shah’s production, provided it stays within budget, is already in profit before a single frame has been shot. In addition, it means that IFC will be looking at the movie taking a minimum of 35 crore at the Indian box office – keep that figure in mind folks when the movie is eventually released. In a market where 20 crore at the box office is usually seen as a hit (producing an income of about 80 crore in worldwide revenue), this is quite a target to hit – although Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na recently hit 53 crore in Indian box office takings and Singh is Kinng passed 50 crore in its first week alone.

The movie which is set in London’s rampant underground music scene stars Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Asin, fresh from her role in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini. The film will be about two childhood friends and their struggle to become rock stars in London. “Now it’s time to begin shooting London Dreams,” said Vipul, “After having another person direct a film, I am now raring to get behind the camera myself. In exactly a month from now, shooting will kick-start for London Dreams. September 14th is going to be the D-day!”

Over the last six years, Vipul has delivered four consecutive hits, all with Akshay Kumar – Aankhen, Waqt, Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng. But King Kumar, his lucky mascot, will not be in London Dreams. “It’s going to be my first ever outing with both Salman and Ajay. I am looking forward to the experience,” he commented.
