Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical , is a brilliant adaption of a much-loved film, into a stage musical. As you probably can guess, the show created specifically for the stage, is based on one of the biggest blockbuster films in the history of Indian cinema, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). After a successful series of performances in the US, the show is getting ready to transfer to the boards in the UK. Directed by Aditya Chopra, who, of course, directed the movie as well, the show begins its UK run at Manchester Opera House on Thursday, 29 May 2025, and plays through Saturday, 21 June 2025.
With music composed by the incredible talents of Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical whisks you from Paris and Rome to the stunning yellow mustard fields of Punjab in a dizzying, colourful new journey set to the exuberant beat of 18 new English songs written especially for the stage.
Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical tells the story of Simran – a young British woman whose future is all set with an arranged marriage back in India – as she sets off around Europe for one last summer of freedom. But getting stranded with laid-back, party-loving Roger isn’t in the guidebook, and now the unlikely pair find that falling in love is just a passport to trouble. Can Roger possibly win over her strict father? Can Simran stay true to her heritage and her heart? Perhaps their different worlds aren’t really so far away…
Talking about Vishal and Sheykhar’s music and creating the songs, Mr. Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, told us earlier, ”They are just brilliant! To see what they have done with the music for the show is incredible. As two leading Indian composers, to be able to put up music like this for a show, hopefully for Broadway and on a global stage, and get people dancing on their feet is amazing.”
