He was once considered Bollywood’s rising star, with a string of hits and all the top directors signing him, but then ‘that’ incident with a certain big star happened, and so came crashing down Vivek Oberoi’s career. However 2013 will see a strong comeback for Vivek with the release of Grand Masti this month and Krrish 3 at Diwali.
Vivek will be playing the supervillain to Hrithik Roshan’s superhero, much like Arjun Rampal did in Ra.One. His character has thus far been kept under close guard, but industry insiders insist it is a performance to watch out for. No stranger to playing the villain, Vivek made a fine career out of doing so, most recently in Shootout at Lokhandwala. In fact he claims that he enjoys playing villainous roles and so when Krrish 3 was offered to him he simply jumped at the chance.
When asked about his character, Vivek divulged “It is a once in a lifetime character. He is a supervillain and an aristocratic prince of darkness. He hates the human race because he is not accepted by society. His vengeance is so strong that he has created his own universe to fight against them.” Vivek added, “It is one of the scariest baddies on screen.”
Vivek is praying that his performance is appreciated in Krrish 3 and says “I hope my career will change after this film and that I will get right roles with good directors. I have been in the industry for a decade now and have done 35 films. But now I want to wait and do right roles.”
Before Krrish 3, Vivek can be seen in Grand Masti, directed by Indra Kumar and is a sequel to the 2004 hit film Masti. It also features the original star cast of Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani alongside Vivek and will be releasing worldwide on Friday 13th September. Watch this space for the BollySpice review.
