Upon hearing “Kingdom of Dreams”, which actor first comes to mind?… Well, if your answer points towards Vivek Oberoi, then you will be saddened, heart-broken and perhaps feeling a little cheated. It seems that tickets for the upcoming show have already been sold with the promise of Oberoi along with Isha Sharvani and Gauhar Khan. However, due to date problems, Oberoi has had to opt out of the theatre show, which he initially seemed very excited to be a part of.

The play is based of Dilip Kumar’s movie Azaad and will be taking place in the magnificent auditorium in Guregaon, Delhi. With dances choreographed by the incredibly talented Shiamak Davar, it seems this theatre show would’ve given Oberoi a reminder of his roots. However, after much deliberation and attempts at rescheduling on Oberoi’s part, he was forced to make the decision to leave the project. Rumour has it that the show was clashing with his shoot in London for his forthcoming movie.

The writer of the play, award-winning Javed Akhtar, is thought to have recommended the much-loved and immensely popular Hussain Kuwajerwalla to replace Oberoi. Kuwajerwalla’s dancing skills are known to one and all, moreso after he (along with with his wife) won reality show Nach Baliye on Star Plus a few years back. Kuwajerwalla is thought to have temporarily set up base in Delhi and has been taken part in rehearsals for the show as well as popping back to Mumbai weekly for the recording of Indian Idol 5, for which he is host.

An excited Kuwajerwalla says, “I can’t believe this exciting opportunity has come my way. I’ve been rehearsing like crazy”. It seems Oberoi’s loss really will be Kuwajerwalla’s gain.
