Who doesn’t love a good-ol-B-town wedding where the papparazi go crazy and the tabloid writers get busy writing about everything from the food to the clothes to the actual ceremony. Looks like we’ll be getting just all this and so much more this October when one of B-town’s most eligible bachelor, Vivek Oberoi, finally gets hitched to Priyanka Alva of Bangalore.
Priyanka is daughter of philanthropist and well known danseuse Nandini Alva and the late Janata Dal leader Dr. Jeevaraj Alva. She was chosen by Vivek’s parents who are both overjoyed at the prospect of seeing their son finally settle down after much upheaval in his personal life in recent years. VO’s mother in particular thinks Priyanka is the ideal girl as she has the perfect balance of traditional values and modern thinking.
The Alve daughter is said to have done a Business Administration degree from the University of London, non-certified course at the Martha Graham School of Dance in New York and also has completed a course in Administration and Fund Raising of NPOs from NYU. She also is said to take a special interest in environmental awareness and social change. One recalls that Vivek Oberoi himself as well as his family are quite the philanthropists.
It seems that Vivek’s wishes to get hitched to a South Indian girl such as his mother have been granted as he was earlier quoted saying that he wanted a South Indian bride as his mom is South Indian, from Chennai, and he wants a wife like his mother. In addition he was also earlier quoted saying that an arranged marriage is something he looks forward to because there’s no reason why a girl chosen by his parents can’t be the girl of dreams.
Vivek’s publicist Gauri confirmed the news to the media and went onto so say just how elated the soon to be ex-bachelor is and that 2010 has proven to be quite the year for VO both professionally and personally. Whilst the official press release didn’t divulge any official dates, buzz is that the big day is scheduled for October 29th.
Well here’s wishing the Prince of Bollywood all the very best as he enters into this new chapter in his life. And whilst we’re sending out wishes some ought to go to the bride-to-be Priyanka Alva who should get used to reading her name on headlines and finding paparazzi everywhere she goes!
