The High Court in India has rejected Warner Bros plea to stop the release of Indian movie Hari Puttar. The American multinational company was trying to claim that the movie infringed their copyright of the Harry Potter franchise. Justice Reva Khetrapal stated there was no commonality between the two movies.
In terms of publicity, this whole affair has provided an enormous bonus for the makers of the Hari Puttar movie – providing many of dollars worth of free publicity worldwide – for a movie that may have simply come-and-gone within a week but is now on most people’s must-see list.
The movie, produced by Mirchi, stars Jackie Shroff, Sarika, Zain Khan and Rez Kempton. The gorgeous Shamita Shetty also appears in an item number. The movie is set in England where Hari’s father is sent to work on a joint defence project from India. When Hari’s parents go on holiday with their in-laws, they accidentally leave Hari and his cousin, Tuk Tuk, home alone with a secret formula that two bumbling crooks are trying to steal.
