The colours of Holi brought joy, humour and fun to fans when Jagdishwer Mishra aka Jolly aka megastar Akshay Kumar went ‘pagal’ with Jolly LL.B 2’s first music track Go Pagal garnering nearly 5 million views on YouTube.
Putting comedy, drama and satire aside, Jolly is now ready to sweep fans off their feet, as Akshay Kumar romances his lady love in the film, Pushpa aka Huma Qureshi, in the ever-so-amorous track from Jolly LL.B 2, BAWARA MANN.
What’s cool is that Akshay Kumar revealed: ‘Bawra Mann’ is a beautiful, emotional and melodious number. It’s my favourite song in this film” which further increased anticipation around its release.
The song has been written by Junaid Wasi and composed by Chirantan Bhatt. Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan have sung the song. Bawara Mann has been choreographed by Raju Khan and it was shot at Lucknow’s Ambedkar Park and Residency.
In Jolly LL.B 2, Akshay Kumar’s way of showing love in the film is, well, different! There is a quirky romantic exchange between Huma Qureshi, who plays Akshay Kumar’s wife in the film, before the song begins. He tells Huma that there is no other husband in Lucknow, where the film is set, who will be making a whiskey peg and offering it to his wife. Akshay Kumar also plays the father to a son in the film.
Akshay Kumar also wanted fans to pay attention to the lyrics. He took to twitter to say: “…pay attention to the lyrics, they’re simply beautiful…”
Despite his simpleton avatar in Jolly LL.B 2, in Bawara Mann, Akshay Kumar exudes charm, warmth and sincerity in equal measure and his chemistry with Huma Qureshi is one to remember.
Interestingly, the track has important context and helps to carry the film forward at a critical juncture. Akshay Kumar is also seen in an arm sling suggesting an injury. Jolly LL.B 2 Director Subhash Kapoor reveals: “The song has Akshay thanking Huma for her love and support.” Probe further and all that the director says is, “She does something that saves his life, and he expresses his gratitude with this song.”
Huma Qureshi echoes Akshay Kumar’s earlier sentiment and adds: “This song is about the unusual yet beautiful relationship that Jolly and Pushpa share. It’s my favourite song from the film and undoubtedly the most romantic song I have ever done. The lyrics and melody will touch your heart.”
Set against the backdrop of the erstwhile city of the Royals – Lucknow – Jolly LL.B 2 is inspired by true events and tells the story of Jagdishwar Mishra, aka Jolly, a hustler by nature, who survives by fighting petty cases and using every tactic under the sun to make a quick buck and earn a decent living. Having spent years in the chaotic and dingy court corridors, Jolly is looking out for an opportunity that could turn the tide in his favour and help him achieve his dream of becoming a full-fledged Lawyer with a chamber.
When faced with the glimpse of such an opportunity, Jolly jumps at the chance and in the bargain commits an innocent mistake with irreversible consequences that makes him ready for a big fight with the ruthless advocate Mathur.
Jolly LLB 2 is a satire about an underdog attempting to catapult himself to the top of the legal food chain. Anarchy, mayhem and underhandedness, all expressed through wit and a vein of humour, form the cornerstones of this courtroom tale.
Produced by Fox Star Studios and directed by Subhash Kapoor, Jolly LL.B 2 starring Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla, is slated to release on 10th February 2017.
