For his new film, Shoojit Sircar is looking to cast an older couple as the lead romantic pair. The story of the untitled film is about a 50 plus couple who fall in love. Amitabh Bachchan has signed on to the project but there is no leading lady signed as of yet.
After the success of Cheeni Kum, the director of course wanted the exciting jodi of Tabu and Amitabh to be in the film. However, Tabu has reportedly backed out, so the search is on. “We’re looking at a few names. Apart from Mr. Bachchan, we have Diya Mirza in a key role. As for the leading lady we need to take a call right away,” said Sircar.
The film’s script has been written by Renzel D’Silva (Rang De Basanti) and is based on an idea that came from a Hollywood film. However, Sircar and UTV are making sure to get the proper copyrights. Sircar said, “That Hollywood film is yet to be made. But my producers UTV decided to acquire proper copyrights anyway. When we told Mr. Bachchan about the subject, he too approved of getting the proper right from Bollywood. We don’t believe in doing things underhand.”
Getting back to who will romance Big B, there are several names that have been mentioned as possibilities; Shefali Shah and Sarika. Since the film goes to the floor at the end of this month, there is sure to be an announcement soon on who will be the lucky lady. Check back here for more news on this exciting new film.
