This year’s 59th Idea Filmfare Awards were full of glitz (quite literally) and glamour. While Deepika and Farhan bagged the awards for best actress and best actor, they didn’t score the highest marks in our best dressed rankings. Bollyspice have their take on who was hot and who was not.
Priyanka Chopra
The host of this year’s Filmfare awards, Priyanka Chopra, looked nothing short of fabulous in a black Alexander McQueen gown with gold embellished hips. The gown flaunted her tiny waist and her hair was styled to perfection.
Verdict: Super hot
Ranveer Singh
The jacket, the shoes. Ranveer is leading the men’s fashion league and his daring to steer away from the safety of the plain black suit is alluring. We love the embroidered jacket and the velvet shoes even though we’re not completely sure about the teddy bears. Nonetheless, bravo Ranveer for being different. Maybe lose the pose?
Verdict: Hot.
Shruti Hassan
Shruti’s entire look deserves some bollyspice attention. We love the cut of the black gown and her high bun and coral lips. Simple, but stylish and she knows how to pose for the cameras.
Verdict: Hot
Tamanna
This Gauri and Nainika red gown is stunning on Tamanna. Once again, simplicity wins the fashion verdict.
Verdict: Super hot
Konkona
Konkona decided to stay desi with this Rohit Bal Anarkali. She looks beautiful and sophisticated in the cream and gold outift. Lovely.
Verdict: Hot
Farhan Akhtar
Another man to swing away from the dull black suits, Farhan impresses with this blue and black Govind Mehta suit. We’ll ignore the outfit to the left…
Verdict: Super Hot
Diya Mirza
This Shantanu and Nikhil creation looks fabulous on Diya. The black and gold saree suit gives an edgy fusion look that Diya carries off with ease. Hair and make-up as always are simple but gorgeous.
Verdict: Hot
Karishma Kapoor
She’s still got it. Karishma looks breathtaking in this Anamika Khanna creation. The embroidery of the high-neck jacket combined with the lace detailing of the lower-half is simply divine.
Verdict: Super Hot
Dhanush
The Ranjhanaa hero doesn’t half scrub up well in a suit. The tie and detailing of the suit lift his look for the red carpet.
Verdict: Hot
Neha Dhupia
We love that Neha chose to pair a Payal Singhal black sleeveless blouse with an Anju Modi flared cream skirt. Accessorised with Amrapali jewellery, Neha pulls off the fusion look with finesse.
Verdict: Hot
Deepika Padukone
Deepika is a fashion icon but we’re not such great fans of her bold choice for the 59th Filmfare Awards. The Gaurav Gupte see-through and shimmering gold gown took the “glitz” criteria a little too seriously. There was just too much shining for our liking.
Verdict: Not Hot
Prachi Desai
We’re not sure why the beautiful Prachi Desai chose this hideous peach dress. She looks 10 years older and the cut does nothing for her figure. We don’t like the embellishments of the upper half. We don’t like the bow. We don’t like the lower half. Sorry, Prachi.
Verdict: Not hot
Ileana D’Cruz
Unfortunately, Ileana didn’t wow us with this black Emilio Pucci outift. We’re not a fan of the long lace sleeves combined with the panelling and hair and make-up are boring. It all looks a little too gothic.
Verdict: Not Hot
Huma Qureshi
Huma’s curves were not flattered by this blue gown. The ruffles combined with the cut of the dress did nothing for her.
Verdict: Not Hot
Sophie Chaudhury
This BCBG pink gown isn’t actually a bad choice, but somehow Sophie doesn’t pull it off very well with her hair, make-up and accessories. Compared to the rest of the red carpet crew, Sophie fails to impress.
Verdict: Not Hot
Vaani Kapoor
Despite the racy backless gown, Vaani disappoints with a hair style that does not suit her at all and the look is ruined.
Verdict: Not Hot
Aditi Rao Hydari
Another actress that took the “glitz” quota a little too far was Aditi Rao Hydari. It was yet again a sheer and shimmering Gaurav Gupta gown that was paired with sparkly shoes and a tacky headpiece.
Verdict: Not Hot
