The capital of India, New Delhi, prepared itself for the start of the annual Wills Lifestyle fashion week last week and with 130 designers showing their collections there was a collection for everyone. Bollywoods influence was present on the catwalk with Abhay Deol walking for designer Ritu Beri, wearing a waistcoat, top hat and jeans. Sonam Kapoor was spotted of the catwalk looking fashionable in a trendy blazer.
The highlight of the fashion week had to be Tarun Tahiliani’s fashion show that was full of glamour and who better to rope into walk for the designer than the gorgeous Shilpa Shetty and Chitrangada Singh. Shilpa strutted down the catwalk sporting a white lengha and a net tulle bodice, whilst Chitrangada opted for the Indian look wearing a crystal embellished silk sari.
Ladies take note; orange is spring summer 2010 big colour according to Abhishek Dutta whose colour palette was full of the bold colour. Lady Gaga would love Abhishek’s collection especially because of the models that sported ‘tights’ over their heads with an orange cross across them.
Jaya Rathore showed that she has not forgotten her Indian heritage with a collection that celebrated India’s textiles and love of all things bold and beautiful. Jaya’s saris were delectable with the sequin embellishments that added to the fun loving vibe of her collection. The collection was made even better when Bollywood beauty Urmila Matondkar strutted down the catwalk in a heavily embellished and printed sari.
Rohit Bal made sure the spotlight was on him with a structured collection that looked like it could compete with top London designers. The fashion show had a Bollywood vibe to it with a unforgettable performance by the Prince Dance company, the Bollywood theme was carried right through to the end of the show when the gorgeous Katrina Kaif walked down the catwalk, in a gold dress that had white textured detailing, with Ranbir Kapoor by her side, the perfect ending for the grand finale of Wills India Fashion week.
