8 releases – 8 successes!

This is what Varun Dhawan’s report card has read ever since he stormed into the Bollywood scene five years back with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. From doing a student romcom to stepping into the big shoes of Salman Khan with his ninth release Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan has already seen the kind of an enviable Box Office run that dreams are made of. He is of course looking at extending this winning streak now with the David Dhawan-Sajid Nadiadwala film that is super hot in the industry circles and is expected to take one of the best starts for a Bollywood release in 2017.

“Just look at his record run so far and you will get the picture,” says an insider, “Student of the Year, Main Tera Hero, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badlapur, ABCD 2, Dilwale, Dishoom and Badrinath Ki Dulhania – He has done films across genres and even attempted an offbeat film in the middle of it all. He hasn’t shied away from a two hero film either. Now Judwaa 2 is a two hero film too and guess what, Varun is playing both the roles. How cool is that! Enacting a double role is a huge responsibility and Varun has bagged that with his ninth film.”

No wonder, call for a double hat-trick is already on the cards and the industry doesn’t have much of a doubt around this breezing past the 100 crore mark in a jiffy.

“Judwaa 2 is an out and out package affair and hasn’t set a foot wrong in any department,” an industry veteran comments, “Right from subject to the choice of actors to production values to the entertainment quotient to the music to the promotion/marketing to a mega release in the offering, Judwaa 2 has played its cards right. With just days to go for the film’s arrival, it is not a matter of whether it would open big. The question is how big!”

Now isn’t that music to the ears for the industry which has been waiting for a major biggie to strike big at the Box Office. Well, Judwaa 2 is set to be one such biggie!
