According to their website, Wolverhampton India Summer is a collection of events to celebrate the contribution of people of Indian and South Asian descent to the city and enhance cultural understanding. Wolverhampton is home to many cultures and faiths, which help to make a vibrant, thriving, progressive and richly diverse city in the Midlands of England. The main sponsor of the programme of events is Ashram Housing, and among the special events planned are a fashion show by the University of Wolverhampton and lectures on Wolverhampton’s historical links with India and the city’s Indian population. There will also be set menus at several local Indian restaurants, as well as performances of Indian classical music by Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya on slide guitar and Subhasis Bhattacharya on tabla.
