Director Sajid Khan has confirmed that he is making a sequel to the popular comedy Housefull. Speaking about Housefull 2 Sajid Khan told a Joginder Tuteja, “that God willing, Housefull 2 will be biggest ‘paisa vasool’ entertainer for the audience.”
The original cast Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani and Chunkey Pandey are all set to star in the sequel with John Abraham joining in on the fun. It has not yet been confirmed if Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan and Arjun Rampal will be returning in the sequel.
It has been said that Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal are also starring in the sequel. If Katrina Kaif stars in Housefull 2 it will see her act alongside longtime rival Deepika Padukone, which rumors say might cause conflict on sets. When asked about this Sajid Khan says “given the history with the two actresses, direction will be a challenge, we think, not scripting.”
Sajid Khan’s Housefull proved to be popular at the box office taking in a total of Rs 71.94 Crore making it the tenth highest grossing Bollywood film in India, so it is only natural that Sajid wants to make a sequel to the popular comedy.
Shooting for Housefull 2 is set to start mid 2011.
