Young ad film makers are making it big in the Bollywood Industry

14mar_Tanushri-Chhaterji-BasuBollywood aka B-town is bristling with fresh ideas and themes these days, thanks to a new breed of directors who are bringing with them a whole new world of innovative ideas from the ad industry.

If we go to see, Ad filmmakers entering and creating an impact on cinema is not a new phenomenon.

Now, to add to the bandwagon of the ad film makers turned directors is none other than Tanushri Chatterji Basu. She is all set to make it big in the Bollywood Industry with her debut film ‘Purani Jeans’ which is a youth based, coming of age film, starring young Indian stars and is produced by Eros International.

Tanushri has directed over 150 advertising commercials, a couple of music videos & a short film in the last 12 years as an independent ad-film director. She gained quick success with advertisements for Pepsi and also for brands of companies like Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, Nestle, Samsung, Kelloggs, Coca-Cola, Diaggeo, Vodacom, Kodak, Cadbury & MTN.

However, if we look at the current scenario one will realize that past a couple of years, our industry has welcomed many Ad film makers.

The list is such as:

Nitesh Tiwari: Director of the upcoming hugely anticipated Bhoothnath Returns starring Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani. He’s the Chief Creative Officer in Leo Burnett .

Dibakar Banerjee : He is most known for films, Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008)

Shoojit Sircar: He is known for films like Yahaan, Vicky Donorand Madras Cafe. He has made television commercials of Saffola, Reliance 2G, Apsara Pencils, Fair & Lovely, Maruti WagonR, Cadbury, Dove and many other brands.

Vinil Mathew: He recently made his debut with Hasee Toh Phasee. He is best known for his Cadbury Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye commercials.

Few seniors also include the Legendary Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal, R. Balki and Pradeep Sarkar.
